The Jet Thruster uses a powerful electric centrifugal pump, an
electrically controlled three-way valve and water jet nozzles. Together
they form a compact and easily installed system for 10-25 metre
vessels. The electric Jet Thruster consists of a non-reversible electric
motor and comes with a thermal cut-out as a standard component. It is
controlled with a joystick and front plate.
The 12V or 24V electric motor powers the impeller that draws in
the outer water. The water flows to the orifices in the vessel plating
through flexible high-pressure hoses that can each be sealed off with a
valve. The diameter of the orifices varies from only 32 to 45mm, and are
set into the bow and/or the stern of the vessel.
The water inlet (available in stainless steel 316 or aluminium)
has a diameter of 90mm and is equipped with a grating to prevent
floating bulky waste being sucked in. Small-sized waste that happens to
enter the system is easily processed by the impeller.
The installation costs of this versatile system are lower compared to traditional bow thruster systems. Thanks to the absence of a tunnel tube, the Jet Thruster is especially well-suited for installation on polyester and wooden plating. An additional advantage is that the nozzles can be placed far up front in the bow. This has a positive effect on system performance.
- Very quiet compared to conventional bow thruster systems
- Simple installation: suited for all types of vessel plating
- Small orifices in plating: 32-45mm
- Easy manoeuvring
- Low weight
- Little to no maintenance
- No vulnerable propellers
- Simple operation with a joystick
- Less resistance
