Shaft Seals
The ProfiSeal is basically an external loaded seal. This ensures that when the inside-loaded mechanical seals occurring usually wear due to abrasive particles, which are deposited in the sealing surfaces, largely absent.
The entire seal consists of at least two components: the actual seal that is housed in a stable protected metal housing and the mounting flange. On request, it shall be adjusted to the exact dimensions of the tube end.
Although both are rigidly connected to the stern tube, the ProfiSeal accommodate both radial and axial play to a limited extent.
Other components are the pneumatic idle control, which allows to remove the outer seal without water can penetrate into the ship.
The stern tube is insufficiently ventilated, an additional cooling water supply are provided. To a specific water inlet is screwed into the housing.
